Patrick Paicheler est né en 1947 à Kenitra au Maroc où il passe sa petite enfance. Dans les années soixante, il étudie en France à l’École des Beaux Arts de Reims. Dans les années soixante dix, il exerce divers métiers, professeur de dessin, maçon, berger, décorateur. C’est à partir de 1980 qu’il se consacre exclusivement à la peinture.
La lumière du sud le fascine. Il a longtemps exploré celle du Minervois et exposé ses toiles à Toulouse, Carcassonne, Minerve, Olonzac. En 1999, il retourne aux sources et s’installe dans le sud marocain dans un petit village à flanc de colline, baigné par la lumière de l’océan tout proche.
« À chaque sud, sa lumière et sa manière de filtrer les couleurs, mais la lumière marocaine l’emporte depuis quelques années. Depuis les fenêtres d’un atelier marocain perché sur des terrasses peintes à la chaux, le peintre transcrit en pigments ce qu’il observe alentour : paysages, animaux, cieux et parfois les fenêtres elles-mêmes. » (Valérie Laffont)
La galerie Le Coin d’Art connaît bien l’artiste pour l’avoir déjà reçu en 2011 pour une exposition consacrée à une touchante série très appréciée sur les ânes. Il est revenu en 2013 présenter des toiles inspirées par ce qui l’entoure au quotidien. Aujourd’hui, Le Coin d’Art se réjouit d’exposer les œuvres les plus récentes et les plus abouties du peintre qui, à 70 ans, est au sommet de son art.

Patrick Paicheler was born in 1947 in Kenitra, Morocco, where he spent his early childhood. During the 1960s he studied in France at the Art School in Reims and during the 1970s he did various jobs including drawing teacher, builder, shepherd and decorator. It was from the 1980s that he devoted himself exclusively to painting.
The light of the south fascinates him. He explored this for many years in the Minervois and showed his works in Toulouse, Carcassonne, Minerve and Olonzac. In 1999 he returned to his roots and went to live in a small village on the side of a hill, bathed in the light reflected from the nearby ocean.
« Each different area of the south has its own distinctive light and its way of filtering colours but the Moroccan light has entranced him for many years now. Looking from the windows of his Moroccan studio perched on a whitewashed terrace, he has translated what he sees around him into paint – landscapes, animals, the skies and sometimes the windows themselves. » (Valerie Laffont)
The Coin d’Art gallery knows Patrick well, having welcomed him in 2011 for an exhibition devoted to a touching series of donkey pictures which were very popular. He returned in 2013 to present canvases inspired by the ordinary things surrounding him. Today the Coin d’Art is delighted to show the most recent and accomplished works of this painter who, at the age of 70, is at the peak of his artistic abilities.
